  • ✓Zero ad tracking — no Google Ads conversion tag, no Meta pixel, no retargeting

Hornsby Law Group sits right on West Peachtree Street in Atlanta. A 4.9-star rating across 397 reviews. That is a reputation most firms would trade a lot for. But when we audited the firm’s online marketing, the setup didn’t come close to matching it.

This isn’t a hit piece. It’s the same checklist we run on any local service business — law firm, HVAC shop, plumber, roofer, restoration company — because the failure points are almost always identical. Six findings. Every one of them basic. Every one of them fixable. And every one of them something a paid agency should have caught in the first month.

FindingWhat the audit foundWhy it matters
No paid-ads tracking detected at allNo Google Ads conversion tag, no Meta pixel in the page source.Either no paid acquisition, or ads running blind with no conversion measurement.
No Facebook/Meta pixel detectedNo fbq(‘init’) / connect.facebook.net script found in the page source.Without a pixel, there’s no way to retarget people who already visited the site — one of the cheapest ad channels available goes unused.
Multiple H1 tags on the homepage (7)7 <h1> tags found in the page source.Multiple H1s dilute the page’s main topic signal instead of reinforcing one clear keyword focus.
No video content on the homepageNo YouTube/Vimeo/Wistia embed found in the page source.Video builds trust fastest and keeps visitors on the page longer — a homepage with zero video is a missed, low-cost opportunity.
No social media profile links found on the websiteNo Instagram or Facebook profile link found in the page source. No easy path for a visitor to check recent activity or reviews on social — and no compounding organic reach being built.
Phone number isn’t tap-to-call on mobileNo <a href=”tel:”> link anywhere on the homepageMost local-service traffic is on a phone. If the number isn’t tappable, the customer has to memorise it or copy it by hand — most just leave and call the next result.
No LocalBusiness structured dataNo JSON-LD structured data at allStructured data is how Google reads your hours, service area, phone and rating. Without it Google guesses — and competitors who publish it get the rich result instead.
No reviews or testimonials shown on the siteNo review/testimonial content detected on the homepageThe reviews exist on Google but never reach the page where the decision is made. Proof has to be where the buying happens.
Insecure content on a secure page (21 resources)21 asset(s) loaded over http:// on an https:// pageMixed content triggers browser security warnings and can silently block images or scripts from loading at all.
No social preview tags (OpenGraph)No og:title / og:image meta tags in the page sourceEvery time someone shares your link in a text, Facebook or a group chat, it renders as a bare URL with no title or photo — the least clickable thing on the screen.
No sitemap.xml/sitemap.xml does not return a valid fileA sitemap is how Google finds every page you have. Without one, deeper service pages can sit undiscovered for months.

A 4.9-Star Reputation That Never Reaches the Website

Those 397 reviews live on Google and nowhere else. We went through the homepage and found no review or testimonial content at all. Not a quote, not a badge, nothing.

Here’s why that matters more than most owners realize. Someone hears the firm’s name — from a friend, a referral, another attorney — and the first thing they do is Google it. They land on the site. That visit is the moment the decision actually happens. And the single strongest reason to pick up the phone, hundreds of happy clients and a near-perfect rating, never shows up in that moment.

Your Google profile earns the click. Your website closes the deal. If your best proof only exists on one side of that handoff, you’re trusting the weakest part of your funnel with the most important job. Getting reviews in front of visitors on the homepage isn’t vanity — it’s conversion.

A Phone Number You Can’t Tap

On mobile, the firm’s number isn’t tap-to-call. There’s no tappable phone link anywhere on the homepage. Read that again: a personal injury firm, and the call takes effort.

Think about the person on the other end. Someone looking for a lawyer is usually on their phone, often on a genuinely bad day. They just got in a wreck, or they’re dealing with an insurance company that won’t call back. If this were my firm, I’d want that call one thumb tap away — not a memorize-and-type exercise where every extra digit is another chance to give up and tap the next result instead.

This is a tiny fix for any developer, and it’s the kind of fix that pays for itself with the first call it saves.

No Conversion Tag. No Pixel. No Way to Measure Anything.

We checked the page source for advertising tracking and came up empty. No Google Ads conversion tag. No Meta pixel. Nothing.

That tells you one of two things, and neither is good. Either the firm isn’t running ads at all — or ads are running with no way to measure which clicks become clients. Spend the money, get the click, and then silence. No idea whether that click called, filled out a form, or bounced in three seconds.

And it gets more expensive. Without that pixel, there’s no way to follow up with people who already visited the site. Retargeting past visitors is usually some of the cheapest advertising there is — these are people who already know your name and raised their hand once. With no pixel, every one of them becomes a stranger again the second they leave.

Run this same check on your own site. Pull up your homepage on your phone and try to tap the phone number. Then view the page source and look for a Google Ads conversion tag and a Meta pixel. If those come up empty, you’re flying just as blind.

No Local Business Structured Data

Next finding: no local business structured data. That’s the behind-the-scenes code — invisible to visitors, visible to Google — that spells out your hours, your phone number, your service area, your rating.

Without it, Google guesses. And while Google is guessing about your business, the firm down the street that publishes this data gets the richer listing instead — the stars, the hours, the details, right there in the search results. In a market where every competitor is one scroll away, handing Google a clear spec sheet of your business is one of the easiest wins in local SEO. Skipping it means gifting the more clickable listing to somebody else.

21 Resources Loading Over an Insecure Connection

This is the technical one I’d want fixed this week. Twenty-one resources on the site are loading over an insecure connection on an otherwise secure page.

Two ways this hurts. It can trigger browser security warnings — the kind of message that makes people back out instantly. And it can quietly block images or scripts from loading at all, so the site renders broken for exactly the people you’re paying to attract.

Now put yourself in the client’s shoes. You’re about to trust a firm with your injury case, your medical bills, your future — and your browser flashes a security warning on their website. The trust is gone before the first conversation. For a law firm especially, that warning is fatal.

No Sitemap

Last finding: no sitemap. That’s the simple file that hands Google a list of every page on your site so it can find and index them.

Without one, Google has to discover pages on its own by following links — and deeper pages can sit undiscovered for months. Practice area pages, attorney bios, the content that’s supposed to rank and bring in cases: all of it can exist in a vacuum, invisible to the very search engine it was written for. A sitemap is basic plumbing. Not having one is pure neglect.

This Is the Part That Should Make You Angry

Here’s what gets me. Every one of these six findings is basic, checklist-level stuff. Not advanced strategy. Not a judgment call. Any competent marketing agency should catch all of it in the first month of an engagement.

After reviewing hundreds of local service accounts, I can tell you what usually happens. The agency collects the monthly retainer. A junior person juggles 80 accounts. And nobody actually looks. The report goes out, the invoice gets paid, and the fundamentals rot in plain sight. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s a personal injury firm or a plumbing company — if you’re paying a home service marketing agency or any agency a monthly retainer, this checklist is the bare minimum of what that money should buy. A real home services marketing company earns its fee on exactly these details, not on a pretty PDF once a month.

If someone’s being paid to run this, they should have caught it. All of it. In month one.

The AI Shift: You Don’t Need the Agency Anymore

Here’s the part most owners don’t know yet. With AI, these exact fixes can now run automatically. Reviews on the homepage, tap-to-call, conversion tracking, structured data, sitemaps, security flags — the whole checklist can be handled without waiting on an account manager’s calendar.

And with a bit of guidance, you can take the whole thing in-house, own it yourself, and never depend on an agency again. That’s not theory — it’s exactly what we build at Local Service Mastery: coaching that teaches you to run Google Ads, local SEO, and Facebook Ads yourself, plus LSM AI, the done-for-you platform that automates the grind. You keep the asset, you keep the data, and no junior rep is juggling your livelihood between 79 other accounts.

Hornsby Law Group has already done the hard part. Hundreds of clients took the time to say this firm delivered. The marketing just needs to stop hiding it.

If this sounds familiar…

You've been burned before.

They own your accounts. Not you.

The day you leave an agency, your Google Ads account, tracking numbers, and landing page are gone. You spent $30,000 building their asset.

💸

The reports look great. The phone doesn't ring.

Impressions. Clicks. CTR. Beautiful PDF every month. But when you ask how many jobs you closed — nobody has a straight answer.

Good questions

Questions,
answered.

Why do my reviews need to be on my website if they’re already on Google?

Because the decision happens on your website. Someone hears your name, Googles it, and lands on your homepage — and that’s the moment they decide whether to call. Hornsby Law Group has 397 reviews and a 4.9-star rating, the single strongest reason to pick up the phone, and none of it appears where the decision actually happens. Google earns the click; your site closes the deal.

What is tap-to-call and why does it matter so much?

Tap-to-call means your phone number on mobile is a tappable link that dials instantly. Someone looking for a lawyer — or any emergency service — is usually on their phone, often on a genuinely bad day. The call should be one thumb tap away, not a memorize-and-type exercise where every extra step is a chance for them to give up and call a competitor.

How can I tell if my ads have proper conversion tracking?

Check your site’s page source for a Google Ads conversion tag and a Meta pixel. In this audit, neither existed — which means either no ads are running, or ads are running with no way to measure which clicks become clients. Without the pixel, you also can’t retarget past visitors, which is usually some of the cheapest advertising there is.

What is local business structured data?

It’s behind-the-scenes code that tells Google your hours, phone number, service area, and rating. Without it, Google guesses — and the competitor down the street that publishes it gets the richer, more complete listing in the search results instead of you.

What does it mean when site resources load over an insecure connection?

It means files on an otherwise secure (HTTPS) page are being loaded insecurely — this audit found 21 of them. It can trigger browser security warnings and quietly block images or scripts from loading. If a potential client sees a security warning on a law firm’s website, the trust is gone before the first conversation.

Do I really need a sitemap?

Yes. A sitemap is the file that hands Google a list of every page on your site. Without one, deeper pages — practice area pages, service pages, bios — can sit undiscovered for months, invisible to the search engine they were written for.

Which plan should I pick?

Start with Starter if you want to get your phone ringing in one city and grow from there — one new campaign gets added each month. Go with Growth if you're ready to cover your full service area right away. Pro adds local SEO, Facebook Ads, and weekly coaching with me directly. If you're still not sure, run the free audit — it'll tell you what to expect in your market.

How fast will my ads go live?

Most clients are live within 48 hours of completing setup. Your LSM AI builds everything, you review and approve, then it goes live. The only exception is if Google requires advanced verification for your category (locksmith, garage door) — that's a direct process between you and Google, and we walk you through it.

What results can I expect?

Depends on your trade, your city, and your ad budget. The free audit gives you a real estimate pulled directly from Google's own Ads data — not a made-up projection. In a medium-to-large market with a $1,000/month ad budget, most clients get 15–40 qualified calls per month. Run the audit first to see what's realistic in your specific area.

Do I really own everything?

Yes. The Google Ads account, the call tracking numbers, the landing page — all built inside your accounts, in your name. If you ever cancel, you walk away with everything you paid to build. That's not a policy. That's the whole point.

Is there a contract?

No contract, ever. Every plan is month-to-month. Cancel anytime — if we stop earning your business, you should stop paying.

What if I already have my own call tracking or fraud protection?

No problem. You can connect your existing accounts, or we set everything up fresh for you. Your call — you pick during onboarding.

I'm a locksmith or garage door company. Anything I should know?

Yes — Google requires advanced verification for locksmith and garage door services before ads can run. We build your campaign and all your keywords, but you'll need to complete that verification with Google directly (we walk you through it). If for any reason you can't complete it, you're covered by our full 7-day refund.

Do you work with my trade?

We specialize in home and local services — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, locksmith, garage door, pest control, carpet cleaning, water damage, tree service, and more. Run the free audit and you'll instantly see if we're a fit.

What exactly is my LSM AI account manager?

It's your personal AI marketing manager — trained on 8,600+ real LSM coaching sessions. Sign up and it's ready to go: builds your full campaign setup inside your accounts, reviews everything with you before anything goes live, and stays on 24/7 to answer any question about your campaigns, leads, or marketing strategy. In Lior's exact voice.

What's the 7-day money-back guarantee?

If you sign up and decide within 7 days that this isn't right for you — for any reason — you get a full refund. No hoops. We'd rather lose a bad fit early than keep a client who isn't seeing value.

The bottom line

A Great Reputation Deserves a Setup That Matches It

Hornsby Law Group earned its 4.9 stars the hard way — one client at a time, 397 times over. What’s missing isn’t talent or reputation. It’s six checklist-level basics: reviews on the site, a tappable phone number, conversion tracking, structured data, secure resources, and a sitemap. Every one of them should have been caught in the first month by anyone paid to look.

If you run a local service business, assume your setup has the same leaks until proven otherwise — because after hundreds of account reviews, the pattern is always the same. At Local Service Mastery, we’d start with a free audit to find exactly what’s leaking, then show you how to fix it and run the whole thing in-house with AI doing the heavy lifting. No retainer. No junior account rep. No excuses.

You already did the hard part — building a business worth reviewing. Now make the marketing prove it.
