Zerorez in Los Angeles. 4.9 stars across 420 reviews. By any measure, customers love this carpet cleaning company. The work is good. The reputation is real. And yet when we audited their online marketing, we found six leaks, and every single one of them is fixable.

This is the pattern I see over and over with local service businesses. The owner assumes a great reputation means the marketing is handled. It isn’t. Google doesn’t rank your reputation, it ranks your website, your code and your structure. Right now, those six leaks are quietly sending ready-to-book customers to competitors who did the boring technical work.

Let’s walk through all six, one by one. Not just what they are, why each one costs real money.

4.9/5Google rating
420Customer reviews
32/100Mobile speed score
14.4sMain content load time

Leak #1: A 14.4-second load time on mobile

Google’s own mobile speed test scores the Zerorez homepage 32 out of 100. The main content takes 14.4 seconds to load. On a phone. Where most of their customers are searching.

Picture the actual customer. There’s a fresh pet stain on the carpet. She’s standing over it, phone in hand, searching for help. She is not waiting 14 seconds for your page to load. She’s tapping the next company on the list, and she never even saw your reviews, your pricing or your phone number.

That’s why speed is leak number one. It’s the first leak in the chain. Every dollar and every hour spent getting that person to the site, the rankings, the ads, the Google profile, is wasted if the page doesn’t load before she gives up. You don’t have a traffic problem at that point. You have a bucket with a hole in the bottom.

Leak #2: Zero contact forms on the homepage

The only way to reach Zerorez from their homepage is to call. That’s it. There is not a single contact form on the page.

Here’s the problem with phone-only. Maybe it’s 11 p.m. Maybe the customer just doesn’t like phone calls. Maybe they’re at work, comparison shopping three carpet cleaners in silence, and they’ll fill out whichever form is in front of them. Either way, the after-hours, comparison-shopping crowd is gone, and they leave without a trace. You never even know they were there.

A form isn’t a nice-to-have. It’s the net that catches everyone the phone misses. Every service business has a chunk of demand that will never dial a number but will happily type a name, an email and “pet stain, how fast can you come?” If there’s no form, that demand goes to the competitor who has one.

Leak #3: A 4.9-star rating Google can’t read

This one stings, because the hard part is already done. Zerorez earned 420 reviews and a 4.9 average. The reviews are right there on the page. But they’re not marked up for Google.

Marked-up reviews, code that labels your ratings so search engines understand them, can show star ratings directly in the search results. And stars in the search results lift clicks on listings you already rank for. Same position. Same reviews. More people choosing you, because your listing visually stands out from every competitor around it.

If this were my account, this is the first fix I’d make. Free clicks left behind.

Think about the leverage here. No new ad spend. No waiting months for rankings. Just translating proof you already have into a language Google can display. When a company has a 4.9 and doesn’t mark it up, they’re doing the hardest thing in local marketing, delighting hundreds of customers, and then declining the reward.

Leak #4: No structured business data at all

There’s no structured business data anywhere on the page. That’s the behind-the-scenes code that tells Google your hours, your service area and your phone number in a format it can trust.

Without it, Google guesses. And competitors who do publish that data get the richer result instead, the listing with more information, more screen space and more credibility before anyone even clicks.

This is the unglamorous plumbing of local SEO, and it’s exactly the kind of thing owners never see and agencies rarely check. But understand the why: Google wants certainty. Every field you hand it in clean, structured code is one less thing it has to infer. The business that makes Google’s job easy gets presented with confidence. The business that makes it guess gets presented with a shrug.

Leak #5: A buried H1 heading

In the page code, a smaller heading shows up before the main H1 heading. Sounds trivial. It isn’t.

Search engines read headings in order. The H1 is the strongest on-page signal for what the page is about, it’s the title on the spine of the book. When a lesser heading appears first, you’re burying the main one, and that weakens it as a ranking signal.

For a carpet cleaner, the H1 is prime real estate: it’s where the core service should live, loud and first. Diluting it means every other element on the page has to work harder to convince Google what this page does. It’s a small fix, a developer can correct heading order quickly, but small ranking signals compound, especially in a market as competitive as Los Angeles carpet cleaning.

Leak #6: No video anywhere on the homepage

Not a single video on the homepage. And video builds trust faster than anything else on a page.

Remember what this buying decision actually is. A stranger is deciding which company to let into their home, onto their carpet, around their kids and pets. Photos and text can claim trustworthiness. A short clip of the team at work, real techs, real equipment, real results, demonstrates it. One video costs almost nothing to produce and changes the feel of the entire page.

Every competitor page that shows real humans doing real work starts the trust conversation before the phone ever rings. A page with no video asks the customer to take a leap of faith. Most won’t.

So why did six basic checks get missed?

None of this is exotic. Every one of these is a basic check any home service marketing agency should catch in a first-pass audit. So how does a company this good end up with six of them?

After reviewing hundreds of local service accounts, I can tell you exactly how it happens. The retainer gets collected every month while junior staff juggle 80 accounts, and nobody actually looks. If someone is being paid to run this page, they should have caught all six.

The retainer gets collected while junior staff juggle 80 accounts, and nobody actually looks.

This is what passes for marketing for contractors at too many agencies: a monthly report, a few graphs, and zero time spent on the actual website where actual customers make actual decisions. The owner assumes someone’s watching. Nobody’s watching.

How to check your own site right now

You can run the same audit on your own business this afternoon. Start with Google’s free mobile speed test and look at two numbers: your score and how long your main content takes to load. If your customers are staring at a loading spinner while standing over a carpet stain, you have leak number one.

Then pull up your homepage and ask the uncomfortable questions. Can someone contact you without calling? Do your star ratings show up next to your listing when you search your services? Is there any video of your team at work? These aren’t trick questions, they’re the exact gaps we found on a 4.9-star company’s site.

Heading order and structured data take a peek behind the curtain, but any competent web person can check both in minutes. The point isn’t to become a developer. The point is to stop assuming these things are handled and start verifying, because as Zerorez proves, a flawless reputation and a leaky website can absolutely coexist.

The part most owners haven’t heard yet

Here’s what most owners don’t know yet: with AI, these exact fixes can now run automatically. Speed monitoring, review markup, page structure, lead capture, the whole checklist. And with a bit of guidance, you can run your marketing in-house and own the whole thing. No agency required.

That’s the entire philosophy behind Local Service Mastery. Instead of paying a retainer to a junior account manager juggling 80 clients, you learn the systems, Google Ads, local SEO, Facebook Ads, and let LSM AI handle the heavy lifting. You own the asset. You own the data. And nobody’s neglecting your account, because the account is yours.

If Zerorez, a company doing nearly everything right with customers, has six leaks, yours probably does too. We find them for free. The audit is below.

Good questions

Questions,
answered.

How do I test my website’s loading speed?

Use Google’s free mobile speed test, the same tool referenced in this audit. Run your homepage through it and look at two things: your overall score and how long the main content takes to load. Zerorez scored 32 out of 100 with a 14.4-second load time, which means customers were gone before the page ever appeared. If your main content takes more than a few seconds, assume a chunk of your visitors are tapping the next company on the list.

Do I really need a contact form if most of my jobs come by phone?

Yes. Not every customer is ready, or able, to call. Maybe it’s 11 p.m. Maybe they just don’t like phone calls. Maybe they’re quietly comparison shopping three companies at once. A form catches the after-hours and comparison-shopping crowd that a phone number never will. Without one, those people leave without a trace and you never know the demand existed.

What is review schema markup, and why does it matter?

It’s code that labels your reviews and ratings so Google can understand them. Marked-up reviews can display star ratings directly in the search results, which lifts clicks on listings you already rank for, same position, same reviews, more clicks. If you’ve earned a strong rating, markup is how you actually collect the reward. It’s often the highest-leverage fix on the entire site.

What does structured business data actually do?

It’s behind-the-scenes code that tells Google your hours, service area and phone number in a format it can trust. Without it, Google guesses, and competitors who publish that data get the richer, more informative search result instead. More information in the listing means more credibility before anyone even clicks.

Does heading order on my page really affect rankings?

Yes. Search engines read headings in order, and your H1, the main heading, is one of the strongest on-page signals for what the page is about. If a smaller heading appears before it in the code, the main signal gets buried and weakened. It’s a quick fix for any web person, and in competitive markets small signals compound.

Why should a carpet cleaning or home service website have video?

Because video builds trust faster than anything else on a page. Your customer is deciding which stranger to let into their home. A short clip of your team at work demonstrates trustworthiness in a way text and photos can’t, and it costs almost nothing to produce. Pages with no video ask customers to take a leap of faith. Most won’t.

Which plan should I pick?

Start with Starter if you want to get your phone ringing in one city and grow from there — one new campaign gets added each month. Go with Growth if you're ready to cover your full service area right away. Pro adds local SEO, Facebook Ads, and weekly coaching with me directly. If you're still not sure, run the free audit — it'll tell you what to expect in your market.

How fast will my ads go live?

Most clients are live within 48 hours of completing setup. Your LSM AI builds everything, you review and approve, then it goes live. The only exception is if Google requires advanced verification for your category (locksmith, garage door) — that's a direct process between you and Google, and we walk you through it.

What results can I expect?

Depends on your trade, your city, and your ad budget. The free audit gives you a real estimate pulled directly from Google's own Ads data — not a made-up projection. In a medium-to-large market with a $1,000/month ad budget, most clients get 15–40 qualified calls per month. Run the audit first to see what's realistic in your specific area.

Do I really own everything?

Yes. The Google Ads account, the call tracking numbers, the landing page — all built inside your accounts, in your name. If you ever cancel, you walk away with everything you paid to build. That's not a policy. That's the whole point.

Is there a contract?

No contract, ever. Every plan is month-to-month. Cancel anytime — if we stop earning your business, you should stop paying.

What if I already have my own call tracking or fraud protection?

No problem. You can connect your existing accounts, or we set everything up fresh for you. Your call — you pick during onboarding.

I'm a locksmith or garage door company. Anything I should know?

Yes — Google requires advanced verification for locksmith and garage door services before ads can run. We build your campaign and all your keywords, but you'll need to complete that verification with Google directly (we walk you through it). If for any reason you can't complete it, you're covered by our full 7-day refund.

Do you work with my trade?

We specialize in home and local services — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, locksmith, garage door, pest control, carpet cleaning, water damage, tree service, and more. Run the free audit and you'll instantly see if we're a fit.

What exactly is my LSM AI account manager?

It's your personal AI marketing manager — trained on 8,600+ real LSM coaching sessions. Sign up and it's ready to go: builds your full campaign setup inside your accounts, reviews everything with you before anything goes live, and stays on 24/7 to answer any question about your campaigns, leads, or marketing strategy. In Lior's exact voice.

What's the 7-day money-back guarantee?

If you sign up and decide within 7 days that this isn't right for you — for any reason — you get a full refund. No hoops. We'd rather lose a bad fit early than keep a client who isn't seeing value.

The bottom line

Zerorez Doesn’t Have a Reputation Problem, It Has a Leak Problem

4.9 stars. 420 reviews. Customers who genuinely love the work. And six fixable leaks quietly pushing ready-to-book customers toward competitors. A slow site, no contact form, invisible reviews, missing business data, a buried headline and no video, none of it expensive to fix, all of it costing jobs right now.

That’s what makes it frustrating. These are basic checks, and someone was likely being paid to watch this page while all six sailed through. Retainers don’t fix leaks. Looking does.

At Local Service Mastery, this is exactly what we do. We find the leaks, show you how to fix them, and, through coaching and the LSM AI platform, put the whole system in your hands so it never depends on a distracted agency again. If you want to know what’s leaking in your marketing, grab the free audit below. Worst case, you find out everything’s fine. Best case, you find the six leaks that have been handing your competitors jobs for years.
