Rad Law Firm has 4.6 stars across 550 reviews. Stop and think about what it takes to get there. Years of real work. Hundreds of clients happy enough with the outcome to vouch for you in public. That is the hardest part of marketing, and this firm already did it.
But when we audited their online marketing, we found basic things leaking leads. Not exotic stuff. Week-one stuff. The kind of fundamentals anyone paid to run your marketing should catch in their first few days on the account. Here is exactly what we found – and how to check whether the same leaks are dripping on your site right now.
The phone number nobody can tap
Picture the moment this firm actually gets chosen. Someone gets rear-ended on the LBJ Freeway. They are sitting on the shoulder, phone in hand, searching for a lawyer. They land on the site – and the number is just text. There is no tap-to-call link anywhere on the homepage.
Nobody is copying a number by hand on the shoulder of a highway. They hit back and call the next firm. That lead is gone, and the firm never even knows it existed.
Swap the fender bender for a burst pipe, a dead AC in August, or a garage door that will not open, and it is the same story. Most urgent leads in the trades come from a phone. If your number is not a one-tap call button, you are donating jobs to the competitor whose number is.
No analytics means no answers
Next, we looked at the code. We searched for any analytics at all. No Google Analytics. No Google Tag Manager. Nothing.
After reviewing hundreds of local service accounts, I can tell you the ones that grow are the ones that measure. Right now, nobody at that firm can answer the most basic question in marketing: what brought this client in? Was it search? A referral? A review? No idea. Every decision about where to spend the next marketing dollar becomes a guess.
Every future ad dollar would go in blind
It goes further. No Google Ads conversion tag. No Facebook Pixel. So if a dollar ever goes into ads, it goes in blind – no conversion data coming back, no way to know which keyword or audience actually produced a signed case.
And retargeting – showing an ad to someone who already visited your site, usually one of the cheapest lead sources there is – simply is not possible. The pixel was never installed, so the audience does not exist.
Zero pages targeting a service in a city
Then the site itself. We found zero pages targeting a specific service in a specific city.
Here is why that matters. Nobody searches for Rad Law Firm unless they already know the firm. New clients type their problem and their city. They search for the thing that just happened to them, plus where they live. Right now, there is no page for Google to rank against that search – so the firm is invisible at the exact moment a stranger needs them.
The same rule runs your business. Every service you sell, in every city you want to win, needs its own page. Not one generic services page. Individual pages, so Google has something to rank when the search happens.
550 reviews Google cannot read
This one stings, because they already did the hard part. 550 reviews. A 4.6 rating. And review content sitting right there on the homepage.
But it is not marked up in the code Google reads. So those stars cannot appear next to their listing in the search results. If this were my firm, I would want that 4.6 showing everywhere it could. Those are free clicks left behind – a richer, more clickable listing, surrendered to whoever bothers to add the markup.
No structured data for the business itself
And it is not just the reviews. There is no structured data for the business itself – the code that hands Google your hours, your phone number, your service area. Without it, Google guesses. And the firm down the road that publishes it gets the richer listing. Same story in every trade: the contractor who feeds Google clean data gets the better-looking result.
A YouTube channel frozen in time
The most recent upload to their YouTube channel was 2,294 days ago. Seventy-nine months. Whoever ran it has probably changed jobs twice since then.
Video builds trust faster than anything when someone is choosing a lawyer – or any high-stakes service. A six-and-a-half-year silence does the opposite. A prospect finds the channel, sees the dust, and quietly wonders what else is not being maintained.
If someone is being paid to run this, they should have caught it. Every item on this list is a week-one fix.
Why this keeps happening
None of this is exotic. Tap to call. Analytics. Review markup. These are basics any agency should catch in week one. When they get missed, it is usually because agencies collect a monthly retainer while junior staff juggle 80 accounts – and nobody actually looks.
It does not matter whether it is a legal marketing shop or a home service marketing agency. The model is the same. Too many accounts, too few eyes, and a client who assumes someone is paying attention. Meanwhile the leaks drip for years.
The part most owners do not know yet
Here is the shift. With AI, these exact fixes can now run automatically. Tracking installed. Markup generated. Pages built. The whole machine monitored, without a junior account manager in the middle. With a bit of guidance, an owner can bring this in-house, own the whole thing, and never depend on an agency again.
That is exactly what we build at Local Service Mastery. And if you have ever felt burned by a home service marketing company that collected the retainer and never looked at your account, you already understand why we do it this way. You learn to run Google Ads, local SEO, and Facebook Ads yourself – with AI doing the heavy lifting – and the leads belong to you.
