National Injury Lawyers in Dallas, Texas. 4.6 stars, almost 1,500 reviews. That reputation is clearly earned — you don’t fake your way to numbers like that in personal injury law. But the marketing sitting underneath that reputation surprised me. And not in a good way.
Here’s what most owners don’t realize: Google makes every advertiser’s live ads public through the Ads Transparency Center. This firm has 16 ad creatives running right now, so we pulled them up and checked what’s behind them. They’re spending real money on every one of those clicks. And the machine those clicks land in is leaking from at least four different places.
If you run a service business and you’re paying for clicks — or paying someone to manage them — this breakdown is for you. Because every mistake here is one I see constantly in HVAC, plumbing, roofing, and restoration accounts too.
| Finding | What the audit found | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Live Google ads are publicly visible — and auditable | Google’s Ads Transparency Center lists 16 ad creative(s) linked to this business (domain/name match); creative preview URLs captured for on-screen use. | Their actual running ads are public record — reviewable on screen in the video. |
| No click-fraud protection detected alongside Google Ads | Site runs live Google Ads (16 creatives listed in Google’s Ads Transparency Center) but no ClickCease/CHEQ click-fraud protection script was found in the page source or the rendered DOM. | Competitors and bots clicking ads burns budget with zero leads — typically 10-20% of local-service ad spend. |
| No call tracking detected | No call-tracking/DNI script found in the page source or the rendered DOM, alongside live Google Ads. | Most local-service leads CALL. Without call tracking, Google can’t optimize for the calls that actually book jobs. |
| No analytics detected | No GA4/Google Tag Manager script found in the page source. | No way to know which marketing produces leads and which burns money. |
| No Facebook/Meta pixel detected | No fbq(‘init’) / connect.facebook.net script found in the page source. | Without a pixel, there’s no way to retarget people who already visited the site — one of the cheapest ad channels available goes unused. |
| No video content on the homepage | No YouTube/Vimeo/Wistia embed found in the page source. | Video builds trust fastest and keeps visitors on the page longer — a homepage with zero video is a missed, low-cost opportunity. |
Sixteen live ads and zero click fraud protection
There is no click fraud protection anywhere on this site. That means bots and competitors can click those ads all day long and burn the budget. Every fake click costs the same as a real one — Google bills you either way.
On accounts like this, we typically see 10 to 20% of spend gone, with zero leads to show for it. So take whatever you’re spending on ads each month and knock a fifth of it off the top. That’s what’s feeding bots instead of signing clients.
If this were my account, that’s fix number one. Before the creative. Before the bids. Before anything. There’s no point polishing ads that get drained before a real human ever sees them.
Google charges the same for a bot click as it does for a person who just got hurt and needs help right now. Click fraud protection is what separates the two.
No call tracking (click here) on a business that lives on phone calls
Most local service leads pick up the phone. That’s true in personal injury, and it’s true in every trade I work in. Someone who just got hurt is standing there, phone in hand, deciding who to dial. That call is the whole ballgame.
Without call tracking, Google has no idea which ads produce those calls. None. So the algorithm — the thing deciding where your budget goes every single day — is flying blind. It can’t optimize toward the ads that sign cases, because it literally cannot see which ones they are.
This is the part owners miss. Google Ads isn’t a billboard. It’s a learning system. Feed it real conversion data and it goes hunting for more people who convert. Starve it, and it will happily spend your money chasing clicks that go nowhere. Same budget, wildly different results — the only difference is whether you told the machine what a win looks like.
The measurement layer is empty
No analytics, no Facebook Pixel
Underneath the ads, the measurement is empty. No analytics. No Facebook Pixel. There’s no way to tell which marketing signs cases and which burns money. Think about what that means for a second: every decision — what to scale, what to cut, what to fix — is a guess dressed up as a strategy.
And the visitors who leave without calling? They just disappear. Retargeting those visitors is one of the cheapest ad channels there is. These are people who already found you, already read your reviews, already half-trust you. With no Pixel, that channel doesn’t exist. Every bounce is money spent and never recovered.
Zero video on the homepage
For a firm asking people to trust them on the worst day of their life, there is no video on the homepage. None. And video is the fastest trust-builder there is. People don’t hire a lawyer — or a contractor — the way they order a pizza. They’re stressed, they’re cautious, and they’re trying to figure out if the person on the other end actually gives a damn. A 4.6-star firm with almost 1,500 reviews already has the proof. Video is how you make a stranger feel it in thirty seconds. That asset is missing.
None of this is exotic — so why is it broken?
Here’s the part that should bother every owner reading this. Click fraud protection, call tracking, analytics, a Pixel, a video on the homepage — after reviewing hundreds of local service accounts, I can tell you these are the basics any agency should catch in week one. Week one.
- No click fraud protection — bots and competitors draining the budget
- No call tracking — Google blind to which ads produce signed cases
- No analytics, no Facebook Pixel — no measurement, no retargeting
- No homepage video — the fastest trust-builder, missing entirely
But most agencies I’ve seen collect the retainer while junior staff juggle 80 accounts and nobody looks. That’s the model. Your account becomes one of dozens on an overworked account manager’s screen, and as long as the monthly report goes out on time, nobody asks what’s actually happening underneath it. This isn’t one bad firm or one bad shop — it’s the default state of the average home service marketing agency relationship.
Whether you’re paying a home services marketing company or a legal marketing agency, the standard has to be the same.
If someone’s being paid to run this, they should have caught it. Full stop.
The part most owners don’t know yet
Here’s the good news. With AI, these fixes now run automatically. Click fraud monitoring, call tracking, conversion feedback, retargeting — the stuff agencies charge a retainer to ‘manage’ and then don’t — runs in the background without a junior account manager ever touching it.
And with a bit of guidance, you can own all of it in-house. Your business. Your data. Your account. Never depending on an agency again. That’s exactly why I built Local Service Mastery — so service business owners can run their marketing at a level most agencies never reach, without writing the retainer check every month.
