Serenity Roofing & Construction Review: 6 Marketing Gaps Behind a Perfect 5-Star Reputation

  • ✓5.0 stars across 306 Google reviews — a nearly perfect reputation, and most of that proof never reaches the homeowners deciding who to call.
  • ✓Shows in the top-3 map results just 12% of the time within a 5-mile radius — average rank 11.1, so 88% of nearby searches never surface them.
  • ✓Mobile site scores 35/100 on Google’s own speed test, with the main content taking 9.3 seconds to appear — while paid clicks are landing on it.
  • ✓No structured data and no review markup — Google can’t display those 306 five-star ratings directly in the search results.
  • ✓Every miss is a week-one basic — and every one of them can now run automatically with AI.

On paper, Serenity Roofing & Construction looks like a Houston roofing company that has it all figured out. 5.0 stars across 306 Google reviews — in roofing, that is genuinely rare, and it is earned one finished roof at a time. The work is clearly not the problem here.

The marketing is. When we audited their online presence, we found six gaps quietly costing them jobs: a map-pack presence of just 12% within five miles of their location, a mobile site scoring 35 out of 100 on Google’s own speed test, no video on the homepage, no social profile links, no structured data, and 306 five-star reviews with no markup to show them in search results.

And before you think ‘that’s a roofer, I run a plumbing company’ — stop. These are not roofing problems. These are local service problems. We see the exact same leaks inside HVAC, plumbing, electrical and restoration accounts every single week, because the pattern never changes: a rock-solid reputation in the real world, sitting on top of a marketing machine nobody is actually watching. Here is every gap we found, why each one costs real jobs, and what to check in your own business today.

Invisible in the map pack: 12% presence in their own backyard

We ran a live map scan for ‘roofing contractor’ across a five-mile radius around Serenity’s location — 25 points on the grid. They make the top three map results just 12% of the time, with an average rank of 11.1.

Picture the actual customer. A Houston homeowner after a storm, water stain spreading on the ceiling, phone in hand. They search ‘roofing contractor’ and call one of the three roofers Google shows them in the map pack. Eighty-eight percent of the time, that is not Serenity — even with a perfect five-star rating. Most homeowners never scroll past the 3-pack, so a business sitting at rank 11 effectively does not exist for the highest-intent searches in its own service area. This is the Google Business Profile battleground, and it is won with consistent reviews, categories, photos and local pages — not with a great reputation alone.

A 9.3-second mobile site is quietly burning paid clicks

Their website on a phone scores 35 out of 100 on Google’s own speed test, and the main content takes 9.3 seconds to appear. Nine seconds on a phone is an eternity — if this were our site, we would want that closer to three.

And here is the part that should bother every owner reading this: the site carries a Google Ads tag, so campaigns are live and paying for clicks right now. A slow site is not an inconvenience — it is a direct tax on your ad spend. You buy the click, the storm-damage homeowner bounces before the page even renders, and you get nothing for the money. Swap the scene to any trade and nothing changes: a burst pipe, a dead AC in August, a garage door that will not open. Nobody waits nine seconds.

The ads are protected from fraud — but nobody is counting the calls

One thing Serenity gets right that most local advertisers miss: there is click-fraud protection on the site, so bots and competitors are not freely burning the budget. Credit where it is due.

But there is no call tracking anywhere on the site. That matters because most roofing leads do not fill out a form — they call. Without call tracking, Google cannot see which clicks turned into phone calls, and which of those calls turned into signed jobs. The algorithm learns from a tiny, skewed slice of data, and the budget drifts toward whatever produces cheap form fills instead of actual revenue. If your own site has no call tracking either, the platform we install for clients is CallRail — click here.

No video on the homepage: the cheapest trust-builder, missing

There is no video anywhere on the homepage — no YouTube, no Vimeo, nothing. Roofing is a trust purchase, one of the biggest checks a homeowner ever writes.

Sixty seconds of the owner walking a finished roof, pointing at the flashing and the cleanup, builds more trust than any paragraph of stock copy on that page — and it costs almost nothing to produce. People hire people, especially in high-stress moments. A homeowner watching water come through the ceiling wants to see a face and hear a voice before they commit.

No social links: no way to check for signs of life

Not a single link to a Facebook or Instagram profile anywhere on the site. Maybe Serenity has an active page full of recent jobs — maybe not. From the website, a visitor cannot tell.

Homeowners absolutely check social pages before they call. They are looking for recent projects, real crews, and signs the business is alive and busy. Right now there is no path to any of it, which means every visitor who wants that reassurance has to go hunting — and most simply will not bother.

No structured data, and 306 five-star reviews Google can’t show

Under the hood, the site has no structured data at all — the small block of code that hands Google your hours, your service area, and your phone number on a silver platter. Without it, Google guesses, and competitors who publish it get the richer listing instead.

And this one stings because of that perfect rating: the reviews are displayed on the site, but there is no review markup — the small bit of schema code that lets Google display star ratings directly in the search results. Three hundred and six five-star reviews, and none of it appears as stars at the exact moment someone is choosing who to click.

The proof exists. The markup that would put it in front of searchers does not.

Star ratings in the search listing lift click-through on a position you already hold — free clicks, sitting on the table. This is a basic technical check, and skipping it hands a free advantage to every competitor who bothered.

Run this 10-minute check on your own business: search your main service keyword from three different spots in your service area and note whether you appear in the top 3. Pull your site up on your phone and time how long the main content takes. Ask whoever runs your ads — in writing — whether call tracking is installed. Look for one video, one social link, and ask your web person whether structured data and review markup are in place. If any answer comes back ‘no,’ you have the same leaks this company does.

Why this keeps happening: follow the retainer

Every single item above is a basic check. Map-pack presence, page speed, call tracking, video, social links, structured data, review markup. If someone is being paid to run this marketing, they should have caught all of it in month one.

So why does it get missed? Because the traditional agency model is structurally broken. Agencies collect monthly retainers while junior staff juggle 80 accounts, and nobody actually looks. Your account gets a templated setup, an automated monthly report nobody reads, and an invoice. Meanwhile the leaks keep draining money, month after month, year after year. That is the dirty secret of the average marketing retainer: the incentive is to keep the retainer, not to obsess over your account.

The AI shift: you can own this yourself now

Here is what most owners do not know yet. With AI, these exact fixes can now run automatically. Map-pack tracking, speed monitoring, call tracking, review markup — the whole checklist runs in the background without a junior account manager ever touching it.

And with a bit of guidance, you can take control, run your marketing in-house, and own the whole thing — never depending on an agency again. That is exactly what we build at Local Service Mastery: the coaching to understand your own numbers, and the AI platform that keeps every one of these basics handled whether or not anyone is ‘managing’ your account. Real lead generation for local service businesses starts with owning the machine yourself instead of renting attention from whoever holds the keys this month.

Good questions

Questions,
answered.

How important is the Google map pack for a roofing company?

It is where the highest-intent customers decide. In this audit, Serenity appears in the top-3 map results just 12% of the time within a five-mile radius of their location, with an average rank of 11.1 — meaning 88% of nearby ‘roofing contractor’ searches never surface them at all. Most homeowners never scroll past the 3-pack, so if you are not in it, you are effectively invisible at the exact moment someone is ready to call.

How fast should my website load if I’m paying for ads?

Fast enough that a stressed-out person on a phone never considers leaving — think three seconds or less for the main content. In this audit, the mobile site scored 35 out of 100 on Google’s own speed test with a 9.3-second load, while paid clicks were actively landing on it. Test your own site with Google’s free PageSpeed tool and pay attention to the mobile score, because that is where emergency service customers live.

Why does call tracking matter so much for service businesses?

Because most high-intent leads call instead of filling out a form. Without call tracking, Google cannot see which clicks turned into calls — or which calls turned into signed jobs — so its algorithm optimizes blind, chasing cheap form fills instead of real revenue. Feeding Google accurate call conversion data is how the algorithm starts working for you instead of against your budget.

Does a local business really need video on its homepage?

Yes — video builds trust faster than anything else on the page. Roofing is one of the biggest checks a homeowner writes, and 60 seconds of the owner walking a finished job does more than any paragraph of copy. People hire people, and a simple phone-shot video gives them a face and a voice at the exact moment they are deciding who to call.

What is review markup, and why should I care about it?

Review markup is a small block of code that lets Google display your star rating directly in the search results. Serenity shows its 306 five-star reviews on the site but has no markup, so none of that proof appears at the moment someone is choosing who to click. Star ratings in the listing lift click-through on a position you already hold — it is one of the cheapest wins in local search.

Can AI really replace a marketing agency for a local service business?

For the fundamentals, yes — and this audit is the proof. Map-pack tracking, speed monitoring, call tracking, and review markup can now run automatically with AI. With a bit of guidance, you can take control, run your marketing in-house, and own the whole thing instead of paying a retainer to an agency where junior staff juggle 80 accounts and nobody actually looks at yours.

Which plan should I pick?

Start with Starter if you want to get your phone ringing in one city and grow from there — one new campaign gets added each month. Go with Growth if you're ready to cover your full service area right away. Pro adds local SEO, Facebook Ads, and weekly coaching with me directly. If you're still not sure, run the free audit — it'll tell you what to expect in your market.

How fast will my ads go live?

Most clients are live within 48 hours of completing setup. Your LSM AI builds everything, you review and approve, then it goes live. The only exception is if Google requires advanced verification for your category (locksmith, garage door) — that's a direct process between you and Google, and we walk you through it.

What results can I expect?

Depends on your trade, your city, and your ad budget. The free audit gives you a real estimate pulled directly from Google's own Ads data — not a made-up projection. In a medium-to-large market with a $1,000/month ad budget, most clients get 15–40 qualified calls per month. Run the audit first to see what's realistic in your specific area.

Do I really own everything?

Yes. The Google Ads account, the call tracking numbers, the landing page — all built inside your accounts, in your name. If you ever cancel, you walk away with everything you paid to build. That's not a policy. That's the whole point.

Is there a contract?

No contract, ever. Every plan is month-to-month. Cancel anytime — if we stop earning your business, you should stop paying.

What if I already have my own call tracking or fraud protection?

No problem. You can connect your existing accounts, or we set everything up fresh for you. Your call — you pick during onboarding.

I'm a locksmith or garage door company. Anything I should know?

Yes — Google requires advanced verification for locksmith and garage door services before ads can run. We build your campaign and all your keywords, but you'll need to complete that verification with Google directly (we walk you through it). If for any reason you can't complete it, you're covered by our full 7-day refund.

Do you work with my trade?

We specialize in home and local services — HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, locksmith, garage door, pest control, carpet cleaning, water damage, tree service, and more. Run the free audit and you'll instantly see if we're a fit.

What exactly is my LSM AI account manager?

It's your personal AI marketing manager — trained on 8,600+ real LSM coaching sessions. Sign up and it's ready to go: builds your full campaign setup inside your accounts, reviews everything with you before anything goes live, and stays on 24/7 to answer any question about your campaigns, leads, or marketing strategy. In Lior's exact voice.

What's the 7-day money-back guarantee?

If you sign up and decide within 7 days that this isn't right for you — for any reason — you get a full refund. No hoops. We'd rather lose a bad fit early than keep a client who isn't seeing value.

The bottom line

A perfect 5-star reputation cannot fix an invisible funnel

Serenity Roofing & Construction did the hard part right — 5.0 stars across 306 reviews is earned one happy homeowner at a time, and almost nobody in roofing sustains that. But reputation and marketing are two different machines, and the second one is leaking everywhere: invisible in the map pack 88% of the time, a 9.3-second mobile site, ads with no call tracking, no video, no social links, no structured data, and no markup to show those 306 stars in search. Every single leak is a basic check that should have been caught in month one.

If this were our account at Local Service Mastery, the fixes would not wait for a quarterly review. Install call tracking immediately. Fix the mobile speed problem before one more paid click ships to that page. Build out the map-pack presence, add structured data and review markup, and put a simple phone-shot video front and center. Then hand the owner the keys — with AI running these checks automatically and the coaching to read your own numbers, you never depend on an agency again.

Not sure what is leaking in your own marketing? That is exactly what the free audit is for. We will find what is costing you money and show you what to fix first — grab the link on this page and book yours.
